Exhaust leak or other problems?

Recently I've noticed that my polished exhaust tips tend to get much more dirtier on the right side compared to the left side tips.

Is this normal, or is this indication that my exhaust has leaks some where and the exit exhaust flow is not even on both sides, or perhaps other issues?

I have Fistered side cans installed by Darren and a Sharkwerks center bypass on my 997.2 car. Haven't noticed any loss in power then again I just got back in the country and haven't spent time driving as much.

Thanks in advance.

I have not seen any imbalance between the right vs left on either my prior 997.1 or my 997.2, and I tend to keep my tips pretty clean around the outside and inner lip (where it normally gets sooty after a while if not cleaned) so I would have noticed. I had the Fabspeeds with the angled inner edge on the 997.1 and liked to keep them shiny.

Appreciate your input Storm,

I wonder if there's something to easily check in my case to confirm everything is okay or whether it's really normal. I have the Fabspeed polished quad tips and the right side tips were remarkably dirtier than the left tips after driving just 100miles post car wash.

mine get evenly dirty or blackish due to the exhaust. I have noticed other DFI cars such as a friends BMW that one side was clean and the other dirty as you stated. ???

Important. If this is a change from the way the motor has been running you should get it in for check up, ie compression and leak down, borescope. Could be scored cylinder or other issues, none of which are good. I'd do it asap. If the motor has always done this then one bank is burning more oil than the other. Either way this has nothing to do with exhaust tips. Post what is found

Thanks Gp and everyone,

I'll bring it in and see if there's anything going on for peace of mind. Will provide an update ASAP.

It may be normal, but a checkout won't hurt anything.

I read elsewhere that this is a sign of one bank not being in quite as good nick as the other... was worried when I had similar situation, i.e. worried about scored bores.

However it uses no oil so as a test I turned the car round and parked it the other way on my cambered road for a few weeks and used as normal. The OTHER side started to blacken quicker as a result!

Then I moved house... now the road/garage is flat and no issues.

How did your borescope go?

Update- took my car into dealer and spoke with the service director: all is normal and they even plugged it in to run diagnosis, nothing came up.

Car is not running any different, not burning oil abnormally, and no fault codes. Peace of mind attained.

Thank you everyone for your input
