Preparations for shipping?

Hey all,

I am shipping my '06 C2S next week for a move. Is there anything I have to/should do? The only thing they told me is "Remember to deactivate or remove any anti-theft devices." I assume I have to deactivate the motion sensor?

Thanks!

I just shipped a C2S coast-to-cast with Intercity. No special preparations on my part. Just left them a key and they took care of the rest.

here is what I would do as prep:
- have a good night sleep
- drive it to destination

less expensive, more fun! :-)

sorry for not answering your question, i'm not aware of anything to do to ship the car. as for the alarm, just tel them to don't lock the doors. alarm should be off.

Do your research about who's shipping the car. I once shipped a car with a company called SeaRail, now called Livingston International, and it was a nightmare. Half the transport was done with local trucking companies, dozens of people drove my car hundreds of miles. It had bumper damage and bald tires when I got the car back. Their answer? "sue us".

Shipped another time with TFX International and they couldn't be better. My car was only driven the 5 feet onto the truck's zero-incline lift, and was nestled safely between a Lambo and a Bentley.

Unfortunately the shipping provider is handled as part of my corporate moving package, so hopefully they will do a reasonable job. Would I have to give them the standard key or can I get by with the valet key? Also will the motion sensor sound the alarm while the car is being shipped?

Hah, I actually considered this! However driving from Boston to San Francisco felt too intimidating

Did nothing special to prep.
Used Intercity to ship my 07S from LA to Baltimore. They had a car cover on all the cars inside the enclosed shipping. Did not lock car during shipping and gave them my main key.

Used Reliable to ship my 2011 4S from Balt to Iowa. Nothing special, windows down, unlocked, gave the driver the main key. Both of these shippers have been around, great reputations and are not the cheapest. You get what you pay for.
