Thoughts on this gt3 RS clone?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911-...US_Cars_Trucks

Im looking to buy a 997 and this caught my eye, seems to be a very nice clone of a gt3rs , high mileage though but looks every clean , what would you guys offer on something like this with all the genuine RS parts that it has?

Everything but the extra 90 horsepower. ... and Mezger engine. ...and GT3 suspension/brakes. ..and future resale.

Somebody definitely spent a ton of money buying parts, but it raises plenty of questions...

Any suspension or brake upgrades? Looks like it's lowered and the calipers are painted PCCB yellow, but is that just some H&R springs and spray paint? Looks like just stock calipers and rotors?

Who did the work, and was it done well?

There are also a few other funky things, like a Sport button and PASM button when the original build sheet shows a pretty base C2. Sport can be added, but realistically PASM can not.

Fake sport and PASM buttons as well?

Worst of all would be showing up at a PCA track day with a car that looks the complete biz, but getting spanked by any generic Carrera S.

Regardless that it obviously doesnt have the juevos to back it up...it looks like its done SUPER CLEAN and done "right".

Pay more attention to the OEM parts used, and overall car. At the least if the GT3RS fakeness is overboard (Also for me) I would seriously consider this car.. buy it strip the decals and the orange theme.. sell the rims, new ones on, and you have a pretty nice badass car!

So many want an aerokit car, this goes a bit further with the interior done nicely and also a cage which again can easily be taken out and resold..

A great value I would buy in a heartbeat if the everything else lined up.

You are def right , i was looking for a 997 with aero and stumbled across this. I got him down to 40k what do you think about that? i will def leave the gt3 upgrades but will not claim it to be a gt3 and remove the badges and decals and throw a 911 , carrera, or no badges/stickers on it

Not to bust any bubbles here, but there's no way he used an OEM GT3RS rear bumper cover on a narrow body car. I would dig a little deeper to find what body kit he actually bought.

For the right price I'd buy it, remove the stickers and drive the hell out of it.

Makes me consider turning my car completely into a clone. The "negative responses above are kind of why I didn't do the entire exterior (especially the wing)

Yea lots of work done. I would get it checked out and just rip off the decals. If you like he mods done then take that into consideration that replicating that work can be very expensive. Miles are high for porsche but on track for a normal daily driver

For clarification this 2007 911 is a Narrow Body RWD base car correct ? And the 07 GT3 is a narrow body as well I believe only the RS is wide body

Yup, the AWD get the wide body, except for the GT3 RS and the GT2 IIRC

Good point on the OEM bumper fitting wide body only...on another point if its done the right way by a professional body shop even if the bumper wasnt OEM shouldnt be a deal breaker..

Again so what if a normal 997 clones a GT3 or RS, its just the look...its the BADGING, and other decals/etc that make it "cheesy or a poser" ...nothing wrong with the upgrades if thats the look that you like.

THe interior looks super nice also , and most of that can stay..center exit exhaust always is a plus and again the car looks great in the position it is and most of us here love it minus the badging.

I wonder why the owner didn't go for a set of PCCB

Not my taste...real thing or nothing.

But hey 95% of the lookers on the street don't know it cloned. They don't even know what a Porsche GT3 RS is.

I will say one additional thing though: if the seats in there are the OEM GT3 one piece carbon fibre units (and they do appear to be) those are a very big ticket item (18k @ Suncoast).
