CA License Plate Advice
So here's a question to start an internet debate...when I was last at the DMV here in California I noticed they were offering to do a run of legacy plates in 50's, 60's or 70's colors. These are simple solid colors and letters. A no brainer if you had a classic car from that era.
My question is, would it be a faux pas to put one on a modern Porsche? I've a black 997, so it's tempting to think about the 60's black plate (with yellow letters) versus the standard white plate of today.
What's everyone think?

The week this was announced by the DMV, well over a year ago, I paid the $50 fee to get in on the blue/yellow plates for my '71 Six. Apparently as soon as they hit 7,500 plates they will issue them....I actually thought it would happen pretty quick but I see the black/yellows are the only ones that have hit the target thus far. I believe that the plates should be period correct for the car. However, on a 997 that is black, the black/yellow would look good.
Get the plates you like for your care - no one else's opinion counts. Most of the modern plates are too busy and look like crap anyway, so a simple 2 color scheme is typically better in my mid.
So have they actually begun issuing the blk plates? I send my $50 about a year ago also, but wasn't aware that they met the required numbers. Anyone receive theirs?
