997S real 1/4 mile
997S real 1/4 mile
I know that there has been much debate about the mags and the speed of the 997S. I went to Raceway Park last night just for a good time, as I am not a drag racer. In any case, I ran my 997S once for the first time ever even driving on the track. I ran 12.9 @ 110 mph. This was achieved with a regular launch (No clutch dropping, some slight wheel spin). I believe this is what Car & Driver posted. With an experienced drag racer, I am sure this is a low 12 car and a few more mph in the trap.

I think it's power that determines quarter mile times.
Someone needs to line up a 997S against a stock 996 Turbo and do a rolling start to see what happens.

damn 12.9 is quick! i do drags in my other car and I run about a 12.4 with it and my 997 doesn't feel anywhere close to it...

I'm sure that the numbers weren't made up but I bet the conditions were very different when each car was tested. It must have been awfully cold and the track must have been awfully sticky for a 12.3 quarter mile with a 997S.

i won't be surprised if the 997S is faster than the TT or GT3 due to the higher displacement and less wheel hops in a launch... and 12.3 sounds reasonable

Try a 2nd gear start at 40 mph.

I believe you, but something's not right about that (set up or driver technique, etc.).
