when to replace coolant
when to replace coolant
hi all,
I have a 2006 C2S, about 45k mls
CPO expired a few months ago. I have the car for 2 years now.
dealer never mentioned anything about changing the coolant.
when should it be done?

Apparently Porsche coolant is "lifetime" now, but unfortunately other components in the cooling system will fail long before then which means you will be adding new coolant to the system. The important thing to remember is when you add new coolant, make sure it is the OEM stuff unless you are 100% sure your entire cooling system has been drained. I've heard you don't want to mix the Porsche stuff with non-OEM brands.

Every 4 years is the general consensus. Coolant doesn't stop cooling, but the additives degrade over time contributing to galvanic corrosion in the system. IMHO, if you plan on keeping the car any length of time, a flush and refill wouldn't hurt given the age of your car.
