997.1 Experts DIY folks

Hi All,

So recently I picked up a Getty GT3 decklid and cup wing for my 997.1 C2S from a fellow member here. It was installed on his 997.1 GT3 and from basic reading, the part's fitment shouldn't be a problem. Anyhow fast forward as I got the part repainted and started installation on it. I noticed the air-duct is on the wrong side and my C2S fan doesn't fit..., so I called up the member who sold this to me and luckily he was doing a RSR conversion hence he wasn't gonna need the K&N box for his car. So I thought to myself great this should work and I just have to figure out the fan later. Well long story short, I removed the airbox with the DIY guide no problem, then I realize that on my stock Airbox there was a vacuum line that had to be removed from the car which links to a sensor switch mounted on the back of the Airbox and then another tube that goes into the airbox. I looked up PET and it said it was a change-over valve. Anyhow my question is, since the K&N tubing only had a slot for the MAF sensor, what the heck am I suppose to do with the switch over valve that is still mounted on my original Airbox as there is a electrical connection to it, so I am assuming I have to remove that Sensor from the original airbox but since the other end was going into the original stock box, where and what should I do with it. I am assuming I can cap off the valve but I just wanted to confirm this with someone who might have added a CAI for the 997.1 S in the past. Thanks in advance as I don't want any vacuum leaks on my car. I do plan to get either the Fabspeed Competition Intake or the Cup Airbox, so does anyone have any opinions on those two as well? Also anyone got recommendations for a low profile fan that might work since my C2S fan didnt fit the GT3 lid.

Thanks,

Nicegsxr

Isn't that vacuum hose just for Helmholz resonator? The new filter box doesn't have one, so it is not needed. Just cap it off and zip tie it out the way.

+1 that's what I did. (I left it electrically connected, not necessary to cap)

Yup thanks guys, I capped the other end anyways started up the car and no CEL so all is well thanks! Now another problem, my third brake light isn't working.. Any questions I did cut the wire going to the light on the factory wing. Wasn't sure if that caused it, any ideas?

Actually figured it out! Searched the forum about fixed wings without lights and got it fixed without even getting a new cable! So now just need to get the car recoded for fixed tail!

Nice, glad you figured it all out (I just got your PM). You actually need a different cable for your brake light, which is under $100 bucks from Suncoast.

Just take the car to a shop that has PIWIS and you can turn off that annoying warning light. Vision Motorsport in Lake Forest can take care of you (I get my maintenance and PIWIS stuff done there).
