New owner here. 2011 911 C4S. Love it !!
I have an Escort (Passport 8500) radar detector with window mount suction cups that I am taking out of my BMW and wish to use in the P-car. In reading that owners manual, it has the following warning. " A few vehicles including some Porsches have windshields with a soft anti-lacerative coating on the inside surface. Use of these suction cups will permanently mart his coating. Consult your dealership to determine if your vehicle has this coating".
I have searched my owners manual and find no information regarding this and my local P Dealer says they have no idea as to the answer, that they have had the question several times but have never been able to find the definitive answer.
I can find other ways to mount this, but prefer the windshield mount for now so that I can easily put it in my other vehicles if I wish.
Does anyone have any insight/experience/advice you can share? Many thanks in advance, it is great to have this forum!!!

 

Never had an issue mounting my iphone to the window.

 

I've used the original Escort windshield mount on my 997.1 and the newer sticky cup Escort mount for over a year on my 997.2. I take them down when cleaning the windows and everything cleans up crystal clear. No worries.

 

V1...No issues here... funny, I just had my second OEM windshield in 5 weeks replaced tonight.


if your worried about the glass still... just get a piece of clear bra...squeegee it onto your suction cup location up in the tinted brow area.
