Question about sport design wheels

Looking at a set of sport design wheels for my 2005 C2.
Want to get them painted or powder coated black with a silver lip like the ones in the picture.
Is the silver lip on these pinstriped on or just masked off before painting?
What is the best way to do it?

I really don't know but I think pin striping after powder coating would defeat the purpose, powder coating being so much more durable and all.

I was told they can pinstripe it over the powder coat, but I really don't want to go that route

I have those wheels on my RS60 Spyder, but in silver (standard wheel for the Spyder). They aren't fun to clean, especially the inside rim. Beautiful though, especially in black.

I recently gave this a try:

This is by far the easiest and cheapest way to add pin stripes to the wheels that look decent and removable. And trust me because I've tried many many other ways!

The RS Spyder CL wheels on my GTS have the silver lip. It is a polished type metal finish, not paint. That is how it came form the factory.

i did some research, seems that the factory wheels are painted. This leads me to believe that i can somehow mask off the lip before painting.

andyb is infamous around these parts
As someone with Sport Design Wheels on my car, I would suggest you go a different route. The 15 spoke design is a major PITA to keep clean; and the gloss black still shows brake dust.

I'm not worried about cleaning, I had BBS CH-R, and BBS RS-GT on my BMW. Lots of spokes and tuff to clean. I think it was worth it.

Bar none the best looking wheel on a 997. I came close to buying them for mine.

If you're going to have contrasting silver rim, have a thick one. I' never liked the silver pinstripe trim, starting with the black BBS CH. Just not bold enough.
