If you flip your cars so often, why not consider leasing and not worry about it?

Make the decision and hopefully it's the right one for you. GL.

I not sure how old you are but I was 44 before i bought my first nice car. It was a new MB E430 Sport. Paid cash. But by that time i had a home, savings and an established 401K plan. I know it hard to imagine actually waiting in this world of instant gradification but they will make Porsches well after you take care of life's real priorities. But hey that's me. JMHO. GL with your decision.

I agree with you 100%, however, I'm in a much different position than what you outlined above. I've been a minimalist by nature (until now), single, 40, and have a professional job. I've never been a fan of the idea that a home is a good investment....I'll just leave it at that. Nor, as a single person, do I want to spend my free time maintaining a bunch of space I don't need. I rent an in-laws quarters for $600 a month, in California, including utilities and it's 2 miles from my work. It's a great little place with a big deck and gated parking, where I can keep two cars and my motorcycle.

Anyway, I'm in the lucky position of being able to retire at 40. It's been a lot of hard work and SELF DISCIPLINE. But now it's time to start enjoying the fruits of my labor. That's one of the main reasons I like the 911 - 1) its an amazing car 2) RESALE value. I don't mind putting down $50k on a P car, if I can get $40k a few years later. Renting the car for a couple of years for a few thousand in depreciation seems well worth it at this stage of my life.

Anyway, I wanted to thank you guys for all your responses - I'm going to pull the trigger once I find what I'm looking for

One of the main pleasures of ownership, for me, is detailing my car. Driving it is great of course. But I love spending a few hours washing, waxing, and detailing it. To do all that and just leave it out to get dust, pollen, dew, or rain on it and ruin all my work sounds maddening. Plus, the garage holds all of my detailing gear, maintenance supplies, tools, air compressors, etc. To put it in perspective, when I did live in an apartment 10+ years ago, I rented two garage units!

Same here and same here!!

Good read and my personal answer: no. Garage bays for my cars that I care about other than DD's / mules are a must have.

I once read something like.....

"You finally win over the Prom Queen after so many painful tries and long painful times. Please, don't take her to a Motel-6! --- unless, of course, you are Tom Bodett."

Hahaha.

Of course a carport is not the solution for a goog security. But it can protect very well from rain and wind, and if it is also elegant...why not! let see mine: http://afenconfort.fr/produits-3/car...port-z-design/
Sails can be streched on each sides for better protection.
