Clear bra installation survey?

Recently purchased a 2007 Carrera S. The car was in mint condition now with 12K miles. Wondering whether to get a clear bra installed or not. Therefore, curious how many here have it on their cars.

Thanks in advance

I have it on my '08 but I don't think I would do it again. It's expensive, and the aesthetic consequences vary depending on the quality of the work, the type of film used, and the color of the car. Next time I would simply get a good detailer to periodically touch up any obvious chips, and consider respraying every few years. Many others, however, swear by the stuff. In the end, as in most things, you pays yer money and you takes yer choice.

I had it on a black car. Not noticeable since my car was always garaged both home and at work -- plus I wash it weekly.

If I have a new car or newly repainted hood and bumper, I would definitely get it again.

Pay extra for pro installation and better material. Years ago, the 3M yellowed on me; I think they have improved since but no more 3m products for me.

I have it and love the protection it provides. Make sure you go full hood coverage as well as side mirrors. Also make sure you get it done at a very reputable shop with best materials available.

I have it on my silver 2010. I had them cover the front bumper, hood, side mirrors and the headlights. This is the 4th car I've had done couldn't be happier with the results.

I did not have it done on my first Porsche and realized the consequences of not having it. When I purchased my current car, I could not get it done fast enough. I did the full hood, front bumper, left and right front, front headlights, side skirts and both doors (I was afraid of people leaning against it at events).

I would also go with XPEL as it is self-healing and does not disappoint. If you go to their website (www.xpel.com) you can find installers that are local to you.

If you can afford it, and have a good installer, do it.

My advice here is to stop by the installation place late in the day and look at some of their work. Clear vinyl can look perfect or it can look horrible, very dependent on the installer. I've used both Xpel and VentureShield and had great results from both. The Xpel is self healing (to an extent).
I would also recommend finding a shop close to you for when you need after installation work. I made the mistake of having an out of state place install my 1/3 car wrap before flying down to take delivery of the car and when there was issues with the wrap it was difficult to get it resolved.

I have it even on my companies service trucks. I use it on every vehicle I own, and had my installer even apply it on my washer and dryer, and even my stainless steel refridgerator, and dishwasher which is now so much easier for the cleaning people to wipe.

to me...this is a no brainer... keep that original paint original. hardly detectable.

Absolutely. First thing I fitted. Painting is expensive. The new products are better than those previously - clearer, tougher and don't yellow.

These cars are rock magnets. I have it on my '09 and I can see where the film has taken a hit but protected the paint surface. I would definitely have the clear bra installed.

I have Expel on mine. Full hood, fenders, bumper and side mirrors. I'm very happen with it. Expel is a bit more expensive but worth it. But it doesn't matter how good the film is, it is more important to hire a good installer.
