To me they *should* be law -- the Canadian experience has proven that there are significantly fewer accidents and, therefore, injuries and deaths following their passage of DRL laws.

Also, in my experience, I have many fewer close calls. My wife and I live in a lightly trafficked neighborhood with lots of 3- and 4-way stops, and some cars would simply blow through. With our 2011 vehicles (mine, Audi Q5, hers, 911 S Cab) and DRLs, people see us coming and actually stop and let us pass. Same for lane changes on highways and Interstates.
