I read the following on a 986 forum


"my dealer says sat. radio is now a $1000 option which can be ordered just like any other option on the Boxster"

Anyone else hear this?

 

Yeah I thought I had read that they had teamed up with XM...not positive though.

 

XM hasn't announced anything yet. They usually do when they team up with a manufacturer.

 

That's an expensive option when an XM receiver and car kit from circuit city only costs around $400.

 

yeah but, the Circuit city stuff won't display on the P-screen and it will be a thing hanging off the dash. On a $100K car does $400 vs $1000 make a difference if the $1000 solution is fully intergrated in the car and functions much better?

 

In any event, it's not true. I just asked my dealer.

 

I did not think that was true. I ordered a car recently and that was not an option. I wish it was (and an Ipod connection, too).

 

Yep - this is a HUGE failure on Porsche's fault. The Cayenne has SAT so why not the 997? What a let down!

 

I careless about xm or ipod. I just don't spend that much time in my car I think. To me, ipod hookups look ghetto to me. It's a phone jack to a walkman look that I frawn upon. XM like any type of radio, isn't playing what I am want.

To me, a few dozen songs in a cd changer is just fine.

 

Definelty not true, im looking at the order guide as we speak. Porsche did drop the ball on that one.
