M3 to 997 now

Hi all.

I am new to the forum and a proud owner of a 2005 997. I had a 2004 M3 , traded it for a used 2005 997 with only 950 miles. build date was 9/04. since this was the first year production do I need to watch out for any thing. The car is not even broken in yet, cant believe so low miles. clean car and simple. any feed back would be great.

options
zenon
sport steering
wheel caps
sport seats
artic silver

planning in installing porsche short shift and may be navi

Thanks

I wouldnt worry about anything on your 997
Its generations of Carrera's, so the 2005's are just the cream of the crop. The more u break it in, the more it zooms, ok, I 've said this a few times now.... GOODLUCK 950 miles, well, that was a good deal!!!!!!!

The NAV is a tough add. I bought a new 997 (that I did not order) and added NAV. They said it was prewired for it, but it wasn't. After the install my cruise control went down and the system reported multiple faults. It took three visits to get it all corrected (there were no mechanical issues, just a warning light).

I put 10,500 miles on my 997 before selling it back to the dealer because I ordered a 997S Club Coupe. I wanted the additional hp (from 325 to 381), a 6 speed (had tip) and didn't like black because it was too hard to keep it looking great. I also wanted the sport exhaust and PCCBs.

You will love it. I am going through Porsche withdrawals....

The M3 is a truly wonderful car, and you could happily live with it every day and easily as your only car. The engine is terrific, the handling nice and safe, it has space for 4 - so it's practical. The only bugbears are numb on center steering feel, which can be dialed out, and a slightly longer throw gear shift than is ideal.

But compared to a 997 it is still based on a sedan and when you drive them back to back you can feel how a higher C.o.G affects handling. One was designed as a sedan based coupe, the other as a sports car with far fewer compromises.
