997 S vs BMW M6
I personally dont like the M6...There's something about it which just doesnt make it too appealing, especially its looks. For its price, I could get a 997TT, or something like an AM Vantage, with some change left. Or, just get a 997S and spend the extra money doing upgrades and mods
"Dominates" is laughable
0 - 60 is such an insignificant measure in the real world. And what's the point of having all that horsepower if it can't go around corners?
Since none of us have driven the M6 in the real world we have to take what's on paper as our best guide. So far none of the mags have given the nod to the M6 over the 997S. The only place the M6 appears to "dominate" is on your piece of paper, and if that's what you drive rather than the real thing, then by all means enjoy your "dominance".

Drove it....Really fast off the line, but not appealing at all! Car felt heavy, especially at turns and bends. If I was 50+ and wanted a comfortable, subtle, and ugly daily driver, I'd get it. But, fortunately, thats not what I'm looking for. And by the way, the SL55 is a whole lot more fun to drive!
I've gotta admit, the bimmer 6's looks are growing on me. Except for the fronts which remains somewhat hostile to my sensibility sensors.
That said, imo, I thought the m6's value edge is significant if priced at $100k or so since it will be fairly loaded.
But then again, everytime I sat in a 645's seat, it does seem to be more about luxury and features and less about agility and manueverability.

Yawn...

a) think it's scientific proof of one car's superior performance over another. It's not and never will be.
b) endanger other people's lives who don't want anything to do with your amateurish testosterone games?
If you really have better than average driving skills and b8lls take them to the track and prove how much better a driver you are and how much better your car is to your buddy there. Then let's see some real data printouts to prove it.
Stupid!
you didnt understand ... i met him on the road ,,, but raced on a private road .... within our complex ... iam aint stupid to race on public roads...
watch your words ... I haven't said anything about you..

Take them to the track or a country road and the M6 would be left well behind. It's based on a sedan, its C.o.G. is too high, and it weighs a ton. Leave winning on the straight line stuff to girlies who can't drive around corners and can't shift their own gears.

given equal drivers, it'll be damn close esp on a public course. the diff will only show thru in a long race track like nurburgring with expert drivers.
The M6 is a faster, more powerful car than the 997 S. but is it going to be as fun? not sure. that's up for debate.

It's also part of Colin Chapman's rule of "Just add lightness".
Frankly if Porsche could get another 100kg's of weight out of the 997 it would be SO much better.
By comparison the M6 and M5 are hippo's trying to become ballet dancers. Never going to happen. A carbon fiber roof for the M6 is merely the equivalent of moving the deckchairs on the Titanic. In other words it's too heavy and has a C.o.G. that's at least 50mm too high.
