997S VS M6

Given the weight, 997S is the better handling car and the M6 is faster in a straight line. The 997S with euro sport suspension is even better. There are video's on various boards of M6's dusting 996TT's and GT3's in a number of acceleration contests. Interestingly, 997S and M6 N-ring times are remarkably similar appox. 8 min flat. The M6 is not bad really for a GT car.

Take them to the track or a country road and the M6 would be left well behind. It's based on a sedan, its C.o.G. is too high, and it weighs a ton. Leave winning on the straight line stuff to girlies who can't drive around corners and can't shift their own gears.
LE CHEF bringing the heat!

I'm a "girlie" who will always express my enthusiasm for a manual transmission WITH A CLUTCH. More control, more driver involvement...that's what driving is all about!

the m6 is hott but its not the car to throw it fast in twisty roads or something its just good in a straight line..i would take the 997s for track and twisty roads and the m6 for everyday drivability not racing in track

Need to clarify...

The implication was not that women can't drive - far from it - my ex-wife was a successful race car driver and many women are far better drivers than men. Not all women are "girlie" drivers, but some men are.

More that people don't seem to see performance extending beyond the "I spanked a Kia from the lights" highway drag strip thing and start "needing" the security blanket of awd and paddle shifters etc. when they get to a corner.

So who have I offended this time?

Read most of the reviews by the auto magazine test drivers and the will always say it isn't just about acceleration - it's also about handling, car weight, agility, etc. If you want a car to enjoy on the street and occasionally on the track, the 997S should win every time. If it's just a street machine, for some people the M6 could be preferred - I'm sure they'll have no problem selling them at full list with a waiting list.
