Durametric Code Help

my engine light keeps popping on. I check it with my durametric tool and the DME code is "Exhaust Flap Failure Final Stage" anyone know what that means? Car runs fine. I clear the code and go a few hundred miles then it pops back on. thanks!

If it is a standard OBD-II code, it means "Injector 3, supply voltage - short circuit". However, searching for that code online looks like there may be other possibilities. I don't see how the exhaust flap one makes any sense on your car.

I would you call or visit your local Porsche service department and ask them to verify the meaning of that code for your car.

Error codes that start with a '1' are manufacturer specific. You need access to the Porsche error code reference to know what that code specifically refers to.

You might have some luck googling the error code with something like "porsche 997 P1043"

I did and this is what I found:

P1043 Electric air cleaner flap

Possible fault causes
- Short circuit to B+/ground or open circuit in the control line
- Open circuit of power supply to air cleaner flap solenoid valve
- Air cleaner flap solenoid valve faulty
- DME control module faulty

Was browsing through some PDF's downloaded in the past. One of them is a 2006 997 DME Diagnosis document listing DME OBD-II codes. Directly from that document:

P1043

Electric air cleaner flap

Diagnostic conditions
  • Power supply voltage > 7 V
  • Engine start-up and subsequent engine running > 10 s

Possible fault causes
  • Short circuit to B+/ground or open circuit in the control line
  • Open circuit of power supply to air cleaner flap solenoid valve
  • Air cleaner flap solenoid valve faulty
  • DME control module faulty

The interesting part is P1041, P1042 and P1043 all have identical text in the document.

OP... don't have the code erased. keep it saved in your ecm, so your mechanic can diagnose it properly.

Keep us posted. good luck.
