New 997.2

Hi all

First time poster here. I just acquired my first 911 in 18 years. 2010 Carrera all black except the seat belts which are red.

I live in Colorado. Can any of you advise on winter setup options?

Ydris

As soon as I get her I'll post some pics. She's in San Luis Obispo at the moment. Hopefully be with by New Years.

Congrats! I live in Colorado also and I drive my 997 year round. I run 19" BBS wheels with Pirelli Winter Sottozero tires and it works very well.

Get a set of snow/cold weather tires asap. Plan on cleaning the undercarriage a couple of times during the winter to clear the build up of salt and sand, even on the inner surface of the rims. And go find some fun !

Im running 18" BBS Sport Techno's on my 4S with LM60 blissaks 265 rears, and 235 fronts. I had to run spacers on the rears to get the wheels out closer to the fenders.

IMO, if winter driving a 911, you should consider having the entire hood, fenders, and bumper cover wrapped in clear Bra. including headlights and fogs.

As many will echo, these cars are rock catchers. I had the misfortune of 2 broken windshields in a one month stretch, and that was summer driving.

18's for winters... narrower tires, more tire selections, less costly tires.

First of all, congrats on the purchase of your 997.2 - you'll LOVE this car! I've got a 2010 C4S Cab and use it as my DD, and the 45+ miles I drive every day in it keeps me smiling at work in between my commute

Second, a big +1 for getting a set of winter tires. With the winters here in Chicago much like Colorado, this is an absolute must for you if you want to enjoy this fabulous car year-round. Personally, I went a set of with 19" 997.1 Turbo rims with Pirelli Sottozero's. There's a bunch of great input on this forum if you search for winter tires, and a lively debate on which is the best choice. I had 18" Blizzaks on my BMW 645 CiC, and while I liked them well enough, I had heard good things about the Pirelli's so I opted for the Sottozero's for my C4S. I've been very happy after 2 winters so I'd say they're worth considering. Here's my ride with my summer set (Pilot SuperSports on 19" Carrers S II rims) as well as the winter set (997.1 Turbo rims with 19" Pirelli Sottozero's).

After that, read this forum every day to discover the endless way that you can find to spend money on your new purchase!

Everyone, thanks for the thoughts and advice... And for the warm welcome. Not sure when she'll get here... Waiting on a delivery truck. What I do know is that the first thing I'll do is get a winter set.

If you get Panorama or Excellence magazines they normally have options listed for winter tires and wheels. Also check the for sale forum for used winter wheels and tires.

Adding the Fabspeed intake next.

Nice. I remember that sound, still trying to get me turbo to sound like that.
