Competition IPD Plenum and GT3 TB on its way!
Jon...I had no CEL w/ the IPD setup prior to softronic... (a couple weeks of driving). So, no. How mod friendly is your service manager at your dealership is the real question. ok, next post will be this... "well, the burdon lies on Porsche to prove the mods caused the cel"... who cares...mod your car and enjoy driving. PB.

Don how much did you pay for the TB/plenum was it a combo deal from the vendor? Anyone know who sells the package for a good price? I was sketchy about this whole thing i hate messing with something thats not broken. It always ends up being a pain in the nuts. But for the minimal power it might be just worth to do it.
Like I spoke to Don about originally, for the simplicity and cost - I feel like this really should be most peoples first modification. It's easy to do, makes gains, and is inconspicuous the way it sits there in the engine bay. You won't be disappointed, I can assure you. I'm guessing the sound with the Fabspeed intake will be just nasty. Not to mention I've done the Gundo Hack, Fabspeed Highflow Cats, and Fabspeed Headers.
I do their taxes so hopefully they will play nice. I'm not worried about them clearing it if it comes on every once in a while. What I don't want is a light that's on all the time. Then if something bad does happen I won't be aware of it. Plus that light is just annoying.

PM sent.
I give a nod to Greg at IPD for great service and advice on this mod for how your car is set up/driving style,etc.. This seems to be one of those mods where the cost difference between vendors isn't more than a $50 spread anyways.

just a good deal accompanied with quick shipping and great service.
The fundamental purpose of a plenum is to deliver as much air as possible through a maze of ducts while requiring the least amount of work. IPD has tested numerous internal surfaces inside the Plenum, including polishing, extrude honing, epoxy coating, and shot peening just to name a few. We spend countless hours developing our product and we have finally been able to perfect a dimpling effect that shows gains over our previous attempts.
Fundamentally dimpling, akin to a golf ball, creates a thin turbulent boundary layer on the flow surface. The theory behind a golf ball is to keep the air stuck to the back of the ball as long as possible to reduce the wake - and increase pressure behind the ball - while traveling through the air to maximize distance. A similar principal applies in a Porsche plenum, where air travels through a tightly constructed intake to meet the extreme packaging constraints of our rear (and mid!) engine friends. By dimpling the interior surface, there are fewer localized pressure drops around compound curves, thereby increasing the flow.
They introduced the internal dimpling with the release of the 981 Cayman/Boxster Plenum, but have been updating all the other applications to include the dimpling - and all new IPD Plenums going forward will feature the dimpling design.
Tomorrow, in preparation for the road trip down to the Rolex 24 at Daytona, my agenda includes wash and wax (I get more enjoyment out of working on a clean car and usually clean it before I take it to a shop too), Motul oil change, clean air filter, IPD Competition Plenum install and then teach the ECU how to handle the big gulp.
Full day and going to be fun!
