Okay, so today was FINALLY the day to get the competition IPD Plenum installed, among other things.
Butt dyno and ears approve. Install was easy. I didn't have any of the ecu learning problems that I expected. I expected it to cough and stutter with the bigger plenum and TB until the ecu got used to the additional air, but it didn't. On my old 996 it would do that after I cleaned the air filter, which was cleaned with each oil change, just like this one.
Only good things to report. I went out and did several pulls from 4,000 to ~6,800 and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Here are some pics from the day:
Starting with a really dirty car from a week's worth of rain in the SE.
To a nice clean car to work on
Trusty dog by my side
Old stuff
Old TB off
Old plenum compared to new
Old plenum out.
New IPD Plenum and GT3 TB installed
Bad flash photography of the new set up...but it is not about being a show piece...it is all about intake and exhaust and this puts the cherry on the cake when added to the FABSPEED Performance Package.
Congratulations. I did the IPD plenum upgrade last month, without the TB upgrade. I thought the ECU did its thing pretty quickly, but it wasn't until a few days later that I really felt it. If yours end up the same way, you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Anyone tried the IPD Plenum and y pipe on a 2008 GT2?
Yes sir!
You've got a PM - the IPD does indeed work wonders on any of the turbo variants including the GT2, and coupled with the Y Pipe it's a combo I highly recommend as great starting points for anyone looking for bolt on modifications for these motors.
