Competition IPD Plenum and GT3 TB on its way!

I pulled the trigger on the IPD competition plenum and GT3 TB today with Jason at House Motorsports and it has already shipped! Was going to hold off on buying it for a while, but the price was too good to pass up. I searched for used on here and paid about the same for new, very happy.

Even though this looks to be a pretty easy DIY, I may have my indy, Autometrics, you may have heard of them, do the install just to be 100% sure everything is squared away. Especially since I'm heading to the Rolex 24 Hour Race at Daytona in a couple weeks!

Excited about the mid-range advertised HP gain and even thinking about doing a before and after dyno depending on the price.

But all in all I know there will be an improvement and this will be the last possible bolt on go-fast part for my car. I have the full FABSPEED Performance package already, which includes headers, cats, mufflers, tune and cold air upgrade...so I have optimized the exhaust and now it is time to optimize intake.

Stay tuned, I'll update this post as I go.

Thanks for the support Don! Very happy to be part of your build - definitely give us a shout if we can help with anything else as well.

And for those of you who wanted a better shot of the car in question:

Absolutely stunning!!! - and we love that it's being used to its potential. These cars were meant to be driven!

Definitely looking forward to your updates

- Jason

What airbox inlet will the TB mate to?

The DIY was simple, took me 1.5 hrs to install the X51 airbox, TB, and plenum. Re-fit the rubber sleeves and the 84MM plenum back into position is bit tricky, am sure you will figure it out. Send a PM if need help.

Thanks!

Going to stock air box.

I may have to have the alternator cable replaced and if that's the case I'll just have them do the plenum and TB since it comes off for the cable replacement.

Your TB was 84mm? The one for mine is 82. What TB are you using?

Hope you get some good gains out of it, I just bought a throttle body so now I need a plenum. Jason, what's this almost as low as used pricing special? Think this will go well with the Fabspeed intake I got from you? Just curious, does the throttle body and plenum have any negative effects on CPO warranties?

I'm almost certain he's referring to the Maxspeed Plenum, which refers to the GT3 TB as 84mm vs 82mm, exact same part just depends on how you measure it. Most everyone refers to it as 82mm - also the X51 TB is the same as the GT3 TB

You've got an incoming PM Jon! And yes, it will work just fine with the Fabspeed Competition Intake you have coming --

Definite increase in throttle response and the mid to upper RPM range really opens up - really finishes off the bolt on performance aspect of the NA motors. I feel like these cars benefit so much from simple bolt ons, and the reliability is kept intact without going overboard.

You shouldn't have any issues with CPO warranties, for example they won't be able to void your warranty on any unrelated component - see the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act.

We've done a ton of these bolt ons without an issue at all - and we have a Porsche Dealer down the street from us that our guys continue to visit when a warranty item needs to be addressed.

TB is GT3 OEM, 82 MM...wasn't 84 my bad.

Going to stock air box, i think you will need a sleeve to fit inside the larger intake tube mated to stock air inlet end.

According to my Porsche AD, air intake modification will not void CPO, however parts are not cover, any troubleshooting cost involve is owner responsibility. So way i take it was " do it at your own risk..."

Everything you need comes with the competition plenum.

All these mods, with the exception of a tune with modified redline, are pretty darn low risk.

Cool stuff, Don. Looking forward to your thoughts on the performance results as this is a modification I am seriously considering.

None here. im running BMC race filters and Cargraphis system/softronic tune as well.

No CEL's ever. The sound w/o an exhaust is very noticeable...power even more so (when at 4500+ rpm's)

Well is the softronic tune the reason you get no CEL? I'm CPOd so I don't want to risk the tune. Intake stuff I'm ok with. Just don't want the light on all the time.

Jon...I had no CEL w/ the IPD setup prior to softronic... (a couple weeks of driving). So, no.

How mod friendly is your service manager at your dealership is the real question. ok, next post will be this... "well, the burdon lies on Porsche to prove the mods caused the cel"... who cares...mod your car and enjoy driving.

It has been 4 months and no CEL, stock ECU tune. The sound from the x51 airbox is addictive. FVD cats and headers next, that would be something look forward to.
