997.2 GTS without Sport Chrono...

So, I'm looking at a manual tranny 997.2 GTS. The car has the sport exhaust, but not the Sport Chrono package. What would I be missing out on?

Right now, I own a 997.1 C4S with Sport Chrono. When I press the sport button, the car gets stiffer and the the throttle more responsive. I love that... and find it hard to believe that a GTS would not have this option.

However, I know on the GT3 the sport chrono package is basically just the dashboard wart. Same deal here?

Not as critical a need for MT...a must have for PDK. My 3 previous 997's had sport chrono (all MT), my GTS (also MT) does not and as far as I can tell I'm not missing anything other than the useless chrono.

6MT here... my car has sport chrono... I for one like the looks of the chrono on the dash. Porsches way of saying you have an STD. I actually use my sport button quite a bit for enhanced throttle response, but do not use it with the suspension/shock setting engaged is unison often as it is a bit jarring for everyday
driving for me.

OP... I agree with Jbrennan in making sure your car has this feature if pdk is on your agenda for trans. As im sure you may know, youcan buy the parts and add the wart for around a grand in parts. not sure whats all involved on the install side of it though.

For a $1K+ you can add Sport Chrono functionality (software and dash button)...but not the "wart".

I agree with a MT it is not needed. It firms up the shifts on a PDK.
I also read it maps the throttle pedal a little different but doesn t make it any faster.

Yeah, the wart to me is just an ornament.

I do use the stiff suspension as soon as I hit 50mph on the Fwy. I don't think the 997.1 would be as enjoyable if I couldn't stiffen up the suspension at high speed. Too bad I don't have the option to auto turn on this feature at x-mph.

I had a manual transmission 997.2 GTS for 3.5 years without SC. I never missed it at all. I had it on my previous two 997S and never really used it because I didn't like the jumpy throttle response when in sport mode. If I had a PDK, I probably would want it.

I have a manual GTS with SC. There is definitely a difference in throttle response between sport/non-sport modes. That's not to say, however, that the throttle response is weak in non-sport mode. If I didn't know any better, I probably wouldn't complain about not having SC, but it's definitely noticeable when it's switched on. I guess it's all relative.

I own a 2012 GTS manual with PSE and PASM but without SC. I looked extensively into adding SC to my car. As jhbrennan said, you can add SC simply, if you want it. Takes the dealer just a couple hours to install the software and button.

The ONLY things SC retrofit does for an MT:
1) Increases throttle sensitivity (see graph in attached image)
2) Adds new PSM 3.0 functions like individual light functions and other techno minutia.

I think about adding it at some point but really it's not worth it in MTs IMO.
