997.1 to 997.2 conversion
I'm still not sure what look the OP is going for. While I like the ducktail, I've always thought the best part of the GT3 look was the wing. I agree with those who've said that the differences in the bumpers between the .1 and .2 997 is minimal. Unless you're going for the full GT3 effect, I personally wouldn't spend the money for the lights, bumper, and exhaust work needed.
For my 997.1, I found that after market LED tail lights modernized the car quite a bit, and wasn't very expensive. My carbon fiber wing was more of an extravagance. I wasn't going for the GT3 look so much as I was making the car look the way it should. Of course, that's a matter of personal taste. I like the cut-outs on the GT3 rear, but between the bodywork, the lights, the wing, and re-routing the exhaust, you're almost better off just getting a GT3. Before you commit to that much work, I'd suggest starting off with after market LEDs, and see if that scratched your itch. I believe a ducktail wing would fit the same on either a 997.1 or 997.2 rear, whether GT3 or not. If you go with a ducktail, though, I think you're moving away from a GT3 look.
Whew. We Porsche drivers sure face difficult choices!
