I did get the switch, thanks - and have a few install questions. Any help?? The DIY you reference is a bit incomplete.

Working on Porsches requires a little bit of creativity, detective work and some cross referencing.

Was there a final post on this?
Did removal require that Ignition Switch Socket tool?
TIA

It was the ignition switch. This is not as simple as I thought and halfway through I had to bring it to my tech to take over the operation....but problem fixed.

I replaced my ignition switch yesterday.(2005 997.1) Overall it was an easy self install.(30 minutes) The replacement switch did not require any programming and it resolved my issue. You also do not need the Special VW Tool. You just need a flathead screwdriver and it removed easily.
