just flushed brake fluid and it was a greenish color. 06 29K, dealer did 2.5 yrs ago, have paperwork and its on carfax. 12K since done at P dealer.

Flushed thoroughly 2X with ATE and is flowing clear now. Old fluid was clear in master cylinder but greenish coming out. Any theories+

Easy. Green is the combination of Blue and Yellow. Usually, when you change the Brake fluid, you can alternate between the BLUE ATF and the YELLOW ATF. You can never get rid of the Blue one completely, and so you end up with a greenish color when you fill up your circuit with Yellow brake fluid.

+1

Though it's interesting that the dealer alternate colors. I thought most dealers would use regular Porsche brake fluid. ????

For your peace of mind, my theory would be: they probably ran out of colored fluid at the tail end of the flush and they just started using regular non-colored fluid.

From what I understand, copper could change the color of the fluid though I do not know if we have copper in our lines. Assuming you have a brake bleeder, just flush one corner after 5k miles or so.

I've seen fluid in the calipers turn darker colors due to heat. When flushing only the first bit coming out is a different color than the reset. It's more pronounced in the front. Perhaps that's what you saw?

I was actually thinking you've got algae in the fluid but that usually happens at point of water contamination, like the fluid reservoir of the master. Possibly water ingress when cleaning the frunk or something..
