Exclamation 997.2 4S has a Carrera 4 GTS Engine ?

Hi Everybody ,
i am planning to buy this 997.2 4S and i was surprised to see that it has Carrera 4 GTS engine. I am not an expert, but i really loved this car. Just wondering
if this is normal in all the 4S Models. Do they all come with Carrera 4 GTS Engine or is this an option/upgrade to the 4S ?

There is an option to add the X51 Power Kit...check your option codes. It is only standard in the GTS.

Yeah, i looked that up, but i don't seem to find anything. I talked to a Porsche Mechanic and he told me that Porsche switched out the Engine on the 4S with GTS Engine in late 2011 ... I am trying to get more info tomorrow

The mechanic doesn't know what he's talking about. If the car is a C4S, the X51 option should be part of the option list and the dealer can run this for you. Very unlikely that Porsche would ship a non-GTS with a GTS badged airbox. Are you sure the car is a C4S and not a Carrera 4 GTS?

Hmmm. Those look like 997.1 tail lights. Any more pics of the car? Does it have the aero kit front bumper and GT2 side skirts?

There is nothing special about the GTS engine. The GTS engine is a 4S engine with the optional power kit which is available to the 4S and the regular S. So a 4S with the optional power kit essentially have the same exact engine as the GTS.

I can tell you that the owner of this 4S replaced his airbox with the one from a GTS. Which is the same part except a different badge. Purely a aesthetic mod.

I realize that, but those don't look like the LED tails. He could have put a 997.2 airbox and decklid on the car.

My 997.1 x-51 = dual inlets. Just sayin.

As little as you can see in the pic, I think the taillights look just like the ones on my 997.2.

That would be great...but probably just a GTS airbox added. I don't believe the X51 power kit option has a GTS badged airbox.

Look at the photo in my avatar. If you see this type of intake manifold on your prospective vehicle, then there is a good chance it has the X51 (Powerkit) option - there would also be upgraded cylinder heads and the sport exhaust system (cylinder heads cannot be seen without removing engine and other stuff). If not this intake, then probably just the air box was installed as mentioned. Also, typically on non-GTS cars with the X51, the upgraded air box is carbon fiber and has the Porsche Exclusive logo, not a GTS logo.

How did you reach that conclusion from a picture of an airbox? or from a Porsche mechanic that says Porsche started putting GTS engines in the C4S in 2011? Or said with tongue in cheek??
