Exclamation Selector Lever not Engaged??

Hello All,

I managed to keep my car away from the flood waters here in Houston. I went to start my car yesterday and a message said "Selector lever not engaged." It also said to put in P or N to start vehicle. I havent had any issue before this. Any thoughts?

2005 C2S

Thanks!!!

I'm confused. Are you trying to start the car in drive? I am assuming its an auto....

Sorry for vagueness. I put the car in park to start. Thats when I got the message. It's acting like it doesn't recognize its actually in park. I put it in neutral and got the same message on the dash. Do you think the selector lever is sticking?
