The car I'm buying is on the other coast. How do I pay for it?

I'm getting a PPI and arranged for shipping. How do you make the actual payment safely for both parties?

I bought my C4S in California. I flew out and met the owner and we did the transaction at the bank. We both banked at Wells Fargo, so it was an easy transfer of funds. Are you going to inspect the car in person, or will you buy it sight unseen?

I decided last night to fly out. It's the only way I can be sure. Thanks.

Well, that makes it easy, both of you go to the bank, it's safe and both of you will be recorded if anything bad happens.

The person that bought my 993 was in CT and I was in IL, he flew in with a cashiers check, we went to my bank and had all notorized, and check verified, and I gave him the keys.

The PPI is being done Thursday.

On Friday I'm flying to LA and going to his bank at which I also have an account, and will do a book transfer. That should only take 30 minutes. I'll drive the car to a storage facility where it should be picked up Saturday for transport to Maryland. I just felt I had to do this in person and take possession of the car.

Make sure you ask for bill of sale while you're at the bank, and take the title after fund transfer.

Long drive but it'll be worth it. Especially through the twisty mountains of Colorado. Not much snow this time of year.

Too far to drive and I won't have tags. But I thought about it! I'll do the bill of sale there and take everything while at the bank.

For peace of mind you are doing the right thing. It is worth the plane ticket to make sure you are getting the car you have been dreaming and searching for on the internet for the last few months!! haha...

I have a similar experience to a few on here. Although I did not have to drive too far, but it was in the next State and about 300 miles away. I live near Los Angeles and did a 4 hour drive to Las Vegas to buy mine. I brought a cashiers check with me and met at his bank. After I fully inspected the car myself, looked over all the maintenance records, verified it was still under warranty, and took a real nice test drive... I could not hand over my check fast enough

waited at his bank for about 30 minutes as they verified and cleared the funds. While there we filled out all the paperwork. That was the best 4 hour drive home from Vegas I ever had. Smiling the whole way home.

All the best and hope this is the one for ya!!
