If you've driven the turbo not sure how you can consider anything else! I drove a 991s and put my foot to the floor waiting for something to happen. Never did. If you've driven the turbo, you know what I mean. They are all very reliable, but I wouldn't look at any car with 50k plus miles, you're just buying someone else's problem. Unless you allow yourself a large budget for maintenence and repair.

It wasn't about validating my purchase, I have several offers on my car more than what I got it for. I have driven extensively 991S PDK, Boxster S and 997.2 S, but I decided to buy the 997.1TT because of Mezger and Manual and I love the look of 997 more than 991. I have my reasons and I am sure you do too, but you stated not to buy turbo because of boost? I dont understand your point on that hence my rude comment. Apology

interesting thread, to the OP, you would likely get more diverse opinions if you post the same question in the 991 forum and the 981 forum. I am not suggesting that all the posts on this thread are erroneous, however you'll get more variety if you post in other forums.

I would take the 991S.

Ryem, you drove a 991 S and floored it, and "nothing"? Porsche says it does a 3.8 0-60. And you felt nothing?

I absolutely love my 997, but unlike many in this part of the forum, I think the 991 is excellent.

I already said Cayman S, so no 997 bias here.

I looked at 996TT's because they were only slightly more than my 997.1 C2S. Then I remembered I already have one twin turbo car, so why not get a little variety?

I also don't care for the look of the 997TT, the more I look at them. I don't care for the front bumper, nor the wide rear haunches for some reason. Call me crazy!

Miles won't matter if its taken care of. 997.1 TT hands down. This isn't a hard decision at all...its the one with the solid MT and mezger...there have been some insane and awesome conversions of TTs into GT2s/full on cup style race-cars.

I was thinking the same thing, I've driven the 991S on both road and track and it's plenty fast, this coming from a guy who drives his TPC turbo 2 to 3 times a week, which is faster than a stock 997.1TT. If speed is all you care about the TT wins hands down, it's easily modded for more hp. 991S is probably the better overall car, you can at least carry two small kids with you. The 981 CS is the better handling car. But really, you'll learn to love which ever car you buy, it's a win win situation. #firstworldproblems

I understand the comment, but must simply ask, have you driven a turbo? Developing torque over 5k rpm and at 3k rpm is a world of difference. The turbo is infinitely more entertaining on the street. Drive one and report back.

The versatility of a 911 really beats out the Cayman, if you need it. Otherwise it is true that mid engine handling is unbeatable.
