forget that guy, he sees a Porsche owner with $$$.
You really don't need a Porsche shop. Most of us have gotten the thing apart and just brought to a welder.
So if you can t do that a good exhaust place might be an option.
Most of us have spent about $200 to do the welding.

Just do the exchanger with Darin at FD Motorsports. Paying for shipping sucks, but there is NO guess work or whether or not the job will be done right. Can't go wrong with that. The biggest negative is if the car is your DD, then you can't be out of wheels while you wait for your mufflers to come in. That can be a bummer.

Talk to Darin, maybe he can send the news with a deposit charge for the core units to come back.

That's an option.

I'm already looking for other spots, specifically Porsche specialized garages. The one i mentioned above was an exhaust shop that deals with all kinds of cars.

Has anyone got the gundo done by Protosport in Pompton Plains, NJ? I sent them an email with attached pics of gundo hacked mufflers and waiting for reply.

I want to get this done next week, before my 1st road trip in the 911.
This shop quoted me at $600 for gundo + $200 for install of Sharkwerks cross pipes.

For 1 mod and 1 center muffler replacement that shouldn't be expensive, these quotes are somewhat expensive. The first exhaust shop mentioned will probably be around 2-300 cheaper, but will they do as good as a job as the specialized porsche place?

I'm thinking this may be the best route to go, just do the core exchange with fister. Quotes for the welding seem too high and I am not sure of the quality once completed. I have a couple questions about the Fister.

Is there any difference between fister vs gundo?

How many inch diameter SS pipe for Fister vs 2 inch diameter SS pipe for Gundo?

How is the quality/condition of the fister exhaust? like new?

I believe Fister is a 2" pipe. There is really no difference between the two. I never seen a Gundo myself but FD Motorsports quality is very very good.

Call Darin and speak to him. He will set you at ease for the work.

Talked to Darin and ordered. Now we play the waiting game and try to get quotes just for install of exhuast & center pipes.
