Currently have 2014 Lexus GS and slightly modified 2005 911 S - wheels, GT3 kit, muffler, intake and Complete LED conversion.

Thinking of trading in GS for 2016 WRX (not STI). I test drove both of them. I liked WRX (not STI) better as a daily commuter.

I am 32 years old and my wife thinks I am TOO OLD for WRX.

I just laughed at her. Lol...

Any ideas...?

I'll have to agree with your wife about the WRX. No offense. I used to have a WRX when I was 16 and kept it until I was 27. I felt way too old for it by the time I parted, though it was a fun car for what it was. What are you looking to gain with a WRX over the GS? Sportiness? In my opinion, you should keep the GS. You already have a fun car. The GS is roomier than the WRX and much more luxurious and refined.

I really enjoy driving manual shift. So I drive 911 more often nowadays and leave my GS at home. GS is just boring now. That's the biggest reason. At the same time, before I get REALLY OLD I just want try WRX. Haha... Still debating.

This is the list of the car that I owned before

Acura TL-Type S
BMW e46 M3 convertible manual
BMW 525i
BMW M5 SMG
BMW M6 SMG
BMW X5

I have two Legacy s that I love. I thought about the WRX but the fuel mileage stinks. That s what turned me away. Other than that I would daily drive one and I m over 50, LOL.

WRX are great cars. As a DD I to would not own an STi and get an auto. Traditional they do tend to run with a younger crowd as they are a very affordable beast and fun as hell to drive. I had an 05 STi and I was in my early 30's. I definately brought the mean ownership age up.

At the end of the day, who gives a crap on the age thing. If you want one, buy one.

How about a VW GTI as a DD? Sporty yet civilized for the commute.

I will check out Leagcy.

No offense, but I am not a fan of VW.

My wife said why don't I get used 4 door Manual M3 which is not a bad idea, if I can find one.

I was shopping for a new daily driver back in 2014 and was hoping for something that had a sportier flair than my then current E550 Mercedes. The WRX came onto my radar as a fun to drive, practical and inexpensive option. I took delivery in May of that year of a top line 2015 WRX and was very pleased with it...for the most part!

What I eventually couldn't get past is every 17year old civic driving boy racer trying to take me on at every light, and the general feeling that I was driving a $20,000 Impreza, with a turbo. The quality of the interior, navigation/infotainment and general feel of the car wore me down so much that I needed to move on.

So I went from this as my daily driver....

To this....

A 2015 mercedes C400. Sport, luxury, quality! Only problem now is that every 27 year old, white sunglasses wearing BMW 335 driver wants to race me! Oh well....I can take em!

In the end, the WRX was a fun car to drive in the short term, but I guess my expectations for a daily driver are a little more refined!

This 02 WRX was my daily driver for 8 years until I started to feel like the old guy pulling up in the fast and the furious. Sold it and bought a 911, which is a much better daily driver. The Suby was reliable though, I'll give it that, but the steering felt like I was guiding a sled pulled by 2 squirrels hopped up on red bull with rubber-bands for reins...

I am not sure how people drive porsche as a DD. I tried it for 2 weeks and did not go too well.

I work my 08 into the mix 3-4 days a week, and love it the best for winter driving in snow and ice. I like driving trucks, scooters, and motorcycles,oh...and other porsches the other days.

If you don't have kids, why not just drive your 05 911 DD duty?

At one point, I had M6 and X5. I sold X5 and tried M6 as DD. It only lasted 2 months and had to get another commuter.

M6 was highly modified. I replaced my carbon fiber front lip after 2 months as well. Jeez...

Also, I am playing a golf on weekends and there is no way. =)

Have driven 4 different 911's as DD and never had a problem, curious as to what your issues were??
