Harsh ride on 997 non S

Wow, the day has come that the ride on my 997.1 Carrera (non S) has become too harsh. Don't know if its me getting a little older or its that you just feel every single bump. Started looking at threads to see what can make it less harsh like going down to a an 18 inch wheel, thats not going to happen and possible other suspension components. Spoke to Bilstein and they say everything just makes th ride sportier meaning harsher. So now in the market for an S model 997 with PASM. Test drove a 997 C4S today and it was a world of difference. Felt a little stronger, heavier and solid and the ride was soother than my vehicle. Any suggestions?

My personal experience has been that with a quality set of coilovers. It is possible to achieve a more compliant ride than stock, while being more sporty. With better dampening, they usually can offer better body control, while being stiff but not harsh. My 997 has PASM though, so my experience isn't based on the 997. I would also look into KW coilovers.

+1 on the coilovers - they tend to be more comfy than stock and dampening adjustment makes a world of different

It's also cheaper than switching cars...

I am surprised to hear a non-S is too harsh. What are you running for tires, how old are they and what pressure do you run them at?

There is another current thread on this with more info. (BTW: It isn't that it is a non-S it is that it doesn't have PASM).

Check tires and pressures before you go off. Most common reasons for ride to deteriorate.
