My previous tires were Nitto's and PS2's, my current tires are MPSS, the Super sport is the most quiet out of the 3.

I'm thinking about Super Sports but wanted some extra opinions.
Interestingly I had the reverse observation when initially test-driving my car before purchase. The Michelins on it were howling horribly. I don't know which model they were though, and to be fair they were in need of replacement due to age and wear. The dealer switched them to Bridgestone RE050As as part of the CPO deal and I found them to be wonderfully quiet and they perform very well, even when autocrossing.

I've never tried new PS2s or PSSs though, so I can't say how those compare.

The Pirelli P-Zero is the worst in terms of noise, in my opinion.
I agree, I went from PZN to PS2 and there's a significant difference. But, it may also be the difference between old and new tires.

my wife's c4 had ps2's on it when we bought it. I couldn't wait for them to wear out as they were so loud and rough. The dws aren't available in the 305 but the size I put on(don't remember) are what the owner's manual states for winter tires. It is my wife's car and we will never track it. I've never had it above 135 but didn't notice any poor handling at that speed. They are much smoother and I can hear the radio now without cranking it up to full volume.

Since I'm a (recent) Bridgestone employee I get a sweet deal on their products; I need to decide between S04, RE050A, and RE-11. I really liked the RE-11 on my BRZ but they wore out in about 15k miles, which I guess would equate to two seasons with the 911. I don't think the RE-71R comes in the correct sizes.

I am thinking about insulating the rear of the car, as I really do not like this rumbling from the worn out PSS. They were very nice and comfortable when new, but that did not last too long.

Have you been on your knees to check the inside wear on those rears? With 15K miles and that much racket I bet they're pretty much spent.

Picture of one of my rears attached. This is how they've worn on all three of my 997's. You look at the outside of it without getting on the ground and you think you're in good shape.

Yes, I went under the car and checked them carefully. I am not reaching the wear mark yet (unlike your picture....) but they are getting close.

Discount Tires advertises the tires for $336 a piece, but of course they are out of stock. In the mean time, Tire Rack is racking up tons of money selling to impatient customers at $400 + a pop.
