Alignment question
Alignment question
Hi All,
I'm up for the alignment and wheel balancing with my 2006 CS. Dealer quoted me more then double then any other descent shop. Do you think it make sense to go with the dealer on that or any other descent shop can do the same job? Do they need to have any special equipment to do it on our cars that I should ask about? Thanks in advance.

I let the dealer do it for $300 , alignment only. It was because other Porsche dealers wanted to take the car to other shops that had alignment machine ( they all don t have them apparently).... I have had experience with another car that one shop told me they couldn t align it because I had a bad strut , took the car out of their shop back to the dealer who got it right with no problem. They told me that on that car the rear needed to be done first or the front wouldn t be right. I am not a dealer service type guy but in this case I felt better with a shop that knows these cars and had the right tools. $500 does sound crazy. Now for balancing I d use any good tire shop.
Yes $500 is totally absurd! $200-$250 for wheel balance and alignment is the ball park figure...

I decided to go to the place specializing in wheel and tire work fairly close to my place. I've used them in the past on my other cars and they had a great reviews. They did a good job and had what t looked like good equipment
(I'm not an expert). $200 for balancing the wheels and alignment.
