Added wheel spacer, now feel vibration at higher speeds

997.2 c2 with lobsters, michelin pilot supersport
I added h r 7mm and 15mm.(hub centric per ad)..i can now hear my dangling keys making a noise vibrating against each other at higher speeds...i now realize exactly what i want to avoided was to buy non hub centric spacers n the h r 7mm are not hub centric. The reseller told me to take it up with h r.

Is it ok to run no spacer in the front and leave the 15mm on the rear?

Yes that's fine. You will have no issues running spacers on one axle only.

Technically hub centric just means the circle cutout is the same size as the wheel hub. The issue might be flat spacers versus spacers with an extension lip. The 15mm spacers probably have the lip. The 7mm ones likely do not.

I had a front wheel vibration issue at highway speeds with flat spacers and lobster wheels. Take off your wheel center caps while installing the wheel with the spacers. Visually check that the wheel fully mates to the hub at all connection points. For me the wheel was tight without the spacers but had a 1mm to 2mm gap with 7mm flat spacers. I switch spacer brands to one with a lip and the problem went away.

Verify that the longer bolts are the same type(conical vs ball). The wrong type for your wheel will not allow them to "seat" into the wheel properly causing vibrations

Thanks guys.
I used the longer bolts that came with the h r kit....are those the same ones used on the lobsters?

Bird.... I have 5's or 7's up front on my winter setup, and have a bit of shake, but only above 95mph. What are your torque specs, and your mounting practices?

If you bought them from H & R and they know the fitment they should have sent you the correct bolts.

Took the frnt h r 7mm spacer off this morning, the frnt end feels much much much better, its fixd. My mechanic observd the amount of hub left with the 7mm spacer on n we agree this product or similiar (non lippd spacer) needs to be pulld off the shelf.

5mm flat spacers work fine. Porsche sells OEM flat ones at 5mm. 7mm flat spacers work with most wheels. But 7mm flat with lobsters and certain model year 997's is a problem. For me it was 7mm flat, 2006 997.1 C2S and lobsters that was a problem. The mating surface on the wheel starts to taper out beyond 5mm which creates an eccentric gap between the wheel hub and the wheel. This causes rotational vibration at highway speeds.

I do agree with you though. Avoid any potential fitment issues by only using spacers with a wheel hub extension lip regardless of spacer thickness.
