Porsche Production Process

My Nov build/Dec delivery cab is way behind schedule. It's still listed as planned production. No VIN assigned. Any idea of a typical time frame from VIN assignment to port or actual delivery? Mr Instant Gratification is getting tired of waiting!

VIN is assigned toward the end, before Section 8, the test drive. Don't sweat it, most status updates are quite slow to come, even if the car is in production. Nov build could be Nov 30, car does not show much for two-three weeks.

did u order some exclusive options? sometime things like a thicker steering wheel can delay the production til the part comes in.

Nope, the usual bose, sport adaptives, short shift. The dealer's doing the PSE here. I am really hoping it's shipped pre holidays.

to respond to part of your question when the car leaves the factory it takes approximately 30 days to your dealer if east coast or mid west.

My car ran almost 30 days behind. The PLPROD was 11/08/05 Nov. build car and I just got the VIN last Tuesday 12/06/05. Expecting the car here on the west coast of USA around mid January.

My car took about 5 weeks for a west coast delivery. It is about one week less for east coast. Can't tell you about the middle...

Does anyone know if/or for how long the factory closes? I heard for the holidays, and i have also heard its closed all the way thru January. The dealer was not aware of any factory closure. I placed my 997S order November 15th. The dealer told me to expect delivery end of February.
