Same but mine isn't as bad to me. More wind than whistling. I do have the rubber parts in so maybe try that. Old car had the fairing and was quieter but I would have to see how it looks first.
Thanks Kellen - yeah, I expected wind noise but the whistling is annoying.
added the rubber and ski holder today - will take it for a test drive later. Hopefully either the rubber will stop it or the ski holders will disrupt the air...
If you are missing the rubber it will whistle like dixie. Go to your local Thule dealer and order two of these: Part #853354407
They are the rubber strips. $8 a pop.
I had to remove rubber in order to slide the bike rack. Then I did not want to cut them. I have not noticed whistling noise. Wind noise above 50mph/80kmh for sure. Note that the combo of bars and bike rack seems quite well engineered with the right balance of flexibility and rigidity to keep bike and bars attached to the roof thru road bumps and wind. Looking by the sunroof it could be scary to realize how much the package makes dancing moves above your head.

just back from Skiing - with the Ski rack on there is no Whistle - it appears you only need the rubber when the rack is empty - something I never intend to do...
I had the rubber strip from my Wife's car and cut it to size - not to avoid noise but to stop any crap from going into the slits.
Very happy with result driving for 4 hours with no issues... Apart from having to go slowly - German motorway at normal car speed....
Cut the rubber strips to fill in the part of the bars not used once the rack is attached if it still whistles. Those sorts of parallel surfaces, just like carrier platforms, form a surface that resonates. With a bike or other stuff up there, you likely get enough turbulence to prevent any smooth flow over the bars and their grooves to whistle.
Correct! I wasn't sure of the exact model because I bought my roof bars used and the seller included the fairing but didn't say what kind it was. Definitely recommended.
