New purchase
New purchase
Gentlemen,
I recently purchased my first ever Porsche 997.1 s. It arrives in a week so I was hoping for some advice on what I should do to the car right away if anything. According to the dealer the oil was changed recently changed and the rubber is like new. The car has 65,000 miles on it. Should I do any special service right away or ----? I look forward to learning from you all and becoming part of the Porsche fanatic world.
Cheers!

right away? Probably not.
Spark plugs and Water pump are some common items people replace as preventative maintenance.
Try to get in the habit of letting her warm up before getting on the pedal. Other than that, enjoy!

Thanks for the advice and I will most certainly make sure to give her ample time to warm up. She's my new baby.
Unless you have the car's maintenance records in hand (or the car was CPO'd), I would recommend changing out the fluids not addressed by the dealer, especially the brake fluid. I'd even go as far as the transaxle and transmission just for peace of mind. Radiator coolant has a rather long lifespan, so unless the fluid looks funky you will probably be ok, although I'd keep an eye on the fluid level for a few weeks of driving to see if their is any loss. It's funny how new fluids can make the car just seem...better.
Tires can "look like new" but a close inspection is in order once you have the car. Look for any signs of aging like sidewall cracking or a date stamp on the tires that is more than a few years old. Don't skimp on tires!!
WARNING: Modding a Porsche is a illness that has no cure. Welcome to the crazy ward.
