I'd love to lower my 997.1TT but, where I live, I find myself scraping the front lip way too easily even at stock height -- and, I am very careful about things. So, I've decided not to lower (at least in the near term).

The other deterrent is the expense involved in lowering the car. I am usually not a fan of just swapping on aftermarket springs to OEM shocks but enough here have done it to get me over that. However, it appears like labor+alignment is at least a $1000 expense, not to mention the aftermarket springs themselves. I don't mind spending $$ on the car, but it this coupled with the concern on scraping has kept me away...

Do you have any friends who are mechanically inclined? Changing springs on a 997 is no different than most cars. Half an afternoon and you should be ready to go. Alignment is $69.95 at my local German Indy. Lowering springs is around $300.

Are you in OC, California?
If you are, I do wrench sometime, and I am in the industry. The price you mentioned is ridiculously high.
Let me know when you are interested, I am still debating on doing coilover or just a spring since I have PASM already.
Probably after May track day I can decide which route to go.

I've DIY'd suspension on JDM cars going back 20 years and wrench quite a bit, but the 997 DIY seems like a PITA and I'm getting too old for all of this. I've asked the question here before and have received estimates of ~6 hours labor for R&R and then $150 for a decent alignment. So you can see with those assumptions where my $1000 estimate comes from. Don't know how much more complicated things are for PASM vs. non-PASM systems.

PS -- I am in OC, CA. I wouldn't mind tackling a DIY on this at some point but would probably prefer to sub it out if the price is more in line with my expectations.

For those who have swapped out stock springs with either H&R or Eibach, are you running into scraping issues over speed bumps?

I have Eibach and no problems with the speed bumps I encounter in SoCal.

I'll let you know if I can help you after I lower mine, which is around May.
I used to do it 10 years ago when I worked for coilover company, so I need to refresh a little bit since I have been in the BMW market in the past few years.

my mechanic did mine at his home for $250, did by himself in 4hrs and never done a porsche, plus he kept the tools (open sockets for PASM cars that I bought for $40). I also found a place that does 4 wheel align, $60 cash So keep calling around.

Eibach and H&R are the 2 biggest spring company in the world.
They do take some order from others. It could be as simple as rebrand, or as complicated as different specs and design.
As TechArt, it could've been made by Eibach, but specs wise, could be different than standard Eibach Pro-Kit.

yep scraping is inevitable but front lip is a consumable item. Mine is lowered with Eibach springs.

Even with 20" wheels, it looks good.

I'm lowering this weekend and installing everything you see here. I'll reply here again with tips and tricks but most of the updates will be on the Rennlist thread I started.

I find lowering Porsches equal to destroying them. Leave the lowering to Cadillacs and 64 Impalas.

Are these the RSS components from Sharkwerks? Did they put a package together for you? Really interested in hearing your feedback as I've been considering a lot of these items for my GTS.
