Possible ?

For various reasons I ask this question: Would it be possible for a retailer of a major brand gasoline to put 87 octane in his tanks and sell it as 91 octane?
Since it was new my 997 has always used the same retailer for gas. Because of what I considered a "bad" tank of gas a week ago, this morning I filled my tank with Shell 91. Almost immediately my car ran as if it had a 10-20 HP increase. in power.
Hypothetical: What if I had been using 87 octane all the time I thought I was getting 91. I would not have known the difference. Last week I heard detonation sounds from my engine and the car seemed down on power. I am convinced there is something wrong at the station I have used for a few years. I'm not blaming the brand of gas for my problem, but rather the local retailer. I think he is doing something to his gas.

Not Mobil. I really don't want to mention the brand, but it starts with C. Again I don't believe its the brand that is tainted, but rather this particular dealer. My wife refuses to shop at his station because it is so dirty. The mechanic 's bay is a pig stye. Inoperative vehicles parked alongside one wall, etc., etc.

If the condition of the gas station is what you described, than maybe his storage tank is to blame.

Doc, I'm guessing it's worth your time. Just driving home each night lowers my BP. Consider your P car to be therapy.
I'm returning my leased 996 in the AM. It sucks that my dec delivery is a more than a month late at best. Ordered in sept, over a 100K...WTF

I thought all gas stations got filled up by their respective companies drivers under stringent supervision. And dont those tanks have to be dugg up every so often to check for leaks and such? I thought all gas stations were regulated by the EPA.
Hope I'm right on this. I thought that Chevron and Mobil no matter where you went were the same as far as reliability, kinda like a Big mac is the same at any Mikey Dee's???????

Yesterday I was told my car is listed as "on the train" LOL. I think the sales guy realy meant IMPINV. The last code before ONVESL. The old car is gone today. After removing the PSE it sounded so anemic! It's going to be a long month!
