shift **** collar came off....how to re-attach?

Hello....

I bought a new turbo shift **** and boot. During a cable adjustment, and removal of the ****, the plastic swivel locking nut under the boot which attaches to the shift lever came undone, and, for now, I simply took it off and the boot leather is basically flapping around and not neatly tucked/attached to the **** portion.

ANybody dealt with this before?

I brought it to my dealer, and they tried for just a few minutes and gave up.

Id prefer not to have to buy another one at $300+ and rather have this one repaired?

ANy suggestions?

Maybe take it to an auto upholstery shop?

Hire someone with small hands?

Thank you for your thoughts.

If the plastic piece is stripped you might need some glue to hold it together.

No, not stripped.... a small amount of the leather needs to slide inside/under the collar/plastic washer...

I will look at the link provided above.

thanks.
