GT3 Seats
GT3 Seats
Thinking of changing to GT3 seats as my next mod. I was wondering if there are any issues to look out for and things that has to be done to make it problem free. Like warning lights and special brackets and such.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There should be a thread on this if I recall, and someone was good enough to post specific instructions with pictures. If you follow those instructions you'll be ok. (You'll love them)
TurboAWD...
There have been posts and links to install the seats on this and other Porsche sites.
If you have auto dimming mirrors and the side mirrors which tilt in reverse you will need to remove the "little black box" attached to the seat and keep it attached to the wiring harness in the car (along with the other "black box" which is attached to the frame). If you don't have those features it seems you can leave that little black box on the seat attached to all the motors which control the stock seat. I was told that on another site BUT I have the auto dimming mirrors and even with both "black boxes" still in the car, they don't seem to work anymore.
If you are tall Brey-Krause makes adapters which move the seat back and lower a few inches if you use the factory sliders, or you can bolt them to the floor for even more room (but they won't adjust of course, ...duh.)
Recaro makes 55mm seat cushions for their racing shells which almost fit and can give you better thigh support if you need it.
The only disadvantage is if you live in the Philippines you will find they do not breathe and they do get hot. You will probably have to use the AC more often.
Other than that they are great and they give you good support and feedback from the car (slides, etc). It is amazing how much energy you spend just staying in the stock seats. Driving on the whole will be much more "relaxing" with the GT3 seats!

I installed the 996 GT3 seats in my 997 and the fit fine, but you'll have the airbag light on all the time and the dealer can't turn it off. Fabryce at GMG Racing thought they could get it to turn off, but they couldn't. They conjectured that they could install a 3 ohm resistor in the wiring harness to simulate an airbag, but GMG never got back to me on that.
The seats are awesome for the track, but can get a bit annoying for driving on the street. They have a very aggressive seating position that can be tiring for street driving.
