Third Radiator Mod - Good Idea?

I'm venturing on ordering the OEM third radiator from Rennline and the radiator screens and I'm wondering if there's value to this mod?

Even in South Texas my temps haven't run all that all out of the normal range, but since adding the Aero Bumper and GT3 smile I thought I'd make it functional.

Anyone done this before and was it noticeable to the extent it was worth the expense?

I also read where the GT3 center radiator is different from the of the 911/S setup - true?

A few thoughts.

If you don't track the car, I wouldn't bother of your temps seem fine.

Also, to utilize the "GT3 Smile" you'd need to buy the GT3 3rd Radiator kit which is significantly more expensive than the Carrera kit. The Carrera kit vents through holes you cut out on the bottom of the bumper behind the kit. The GT3 Kits is angled differently to vent through the smile.

Since you're in San Antonio, you might need it. I needed one on my 4s when I lived in Dallas.

The issue sue is the longer warm up times.
If you're doing short drives then you are accumulating water moisture in you oil. You need to drive long enough to burn that off and the third radiator adds some time to that interval.

No it does not. Warm up time is function of thermostat, not size/quantity of radiator(s).

I don't track but drive aggressively, those hot summer months in Texas is scorcher, 105* with AC on full blast it is nice to have the 3rd radiator sharing the load. Glad had mine installed.

My FD3 RX7 always run hot with AC on in summer month, took the fun out of driving.

I would... and I did.

anything to help cool down all the cylinders in our car, which is a common problem

should have came from factory with the 3rd radiator on manual tranny

IMO If u don't need it, u r not driving it hard enough. lol

btw, I don't think it takes longer to reach optimal temp.. since that is regulated by the thermostat

seriously tho, it will help u in the hot summer

Thanks, Carlito - I'm actually sold on it and ordered it. For what it's worth, I generally do not race the tach over 3-4K until the engine is at running temp.

Before installing a third radiator, I would ensure the existing radiators were clean. Pay close attention to the outside vertical areas of each heat exchanger.

Having more capacity in cooling system in my book is always better. Makes engine last longer.
