997.1 S or 997.2

Been looking at 05-08 S 6MT models but I just came across a 2010 non S PDK with 70,000 miles. It's in my price range. Is it worth the mileage for the .2?

I would go .2 just to stay away from M96/97. What is price though and how many miles on 997.1s? Is this a car at a Sonic dealership? If so, I think I saw it and I generally like Sonic cars although this was at a BMW dealership. If it is the one I am thinking of, it is about $10k less than any 997.2 I had ever seen.

I'd take a 997.1 S MT over a base 997.2 AT any day, but if the 997.1 was automatic, then I'd lean towards the PDK.

I will second Derek. I love my 997.1 MT and feel it has more individual character than the 997.2.

997.1S for the win. Imagine giving that six speed hell going thru the gears. That sound that glorious sound. Good luck w/ your decision. PDK has it going on also truth to be told.

Man that 2010 looks pretty nice. Very clean inside. Do you like PDK? Do you need the power of an 'S'? How much are they asking for it?

Drive them both...this car is a heart-talker...listen to which moves you the most. Usually, it becomes obvious after the test drive.

997.1 S Tiptronic itself isn't all that bad, it's nice not having to shift and ideally having both hands on wheel when speed in triple digits. The tiptronic buttons are useless though, converted mine to paddles. Manual in stop-n-go traffic is PITA.

Prior to my '07 997S MT, I had a based '07 997 with tiptronic and I had the Sport module installed and it improved the shifting quite a bit. I love my 6 speed though.

Wassup guys. Long time since I post anything on this forum. Anyway, I've owned 997.1S for couple years and it was flawless experience beside maintenance. I also think 997.1S is not just as reliable as 997.2 but louder and obnoxious just the way I like it. As for reliability Tiptronic seem more rock solid compare to early PDK, don't get me wrong PDK tranny is more superior than Tip but they are expensive to REPLACE because there are zero options to fix even if it just oil leak or electrical issues. Therefore, there are small flaws in both models, with IMS there is a solution but PDK there are no solution. Pick your car and enjoy because these issues are very very small to worry about.

Yes sir, still have the 997.1TT, I listed for sale couple times but can't part with it yet. Test driven a few other manufacturers such C63S, R8 V10, even the Huracan, they all so fast but missing that visceral feeling older Porsche offer. Plus maintenance and repair for Lamborghini make me nervous, my Turbo has been flawless so far (knock on wood). Good to see you guys still hang around the forum.

One of our cousin have a Huracan, it's crazy loud & fast but when learned his insurance is $500/mth it's way OK driving a paid-off 911. If right one come I will settle for a really low mileage, right color, PCCB 997.1 Turbo.
