Is this factory paint on this ‘06 997

Hello, new to Porsche’s and trying to learn more

Found this and in love. Is this a common paint scheme 997 owners do? Or was this a special model? I’m referring to the black toward the rear panel

I don't believe the black is paint but a film...and I don't think it's OEM - probably added after a paint job.

its called a stone guard. usually a film in clear can be added to any model. to protect from rocks thrown up by tires. i replaced the clear one on my 991 with black. they look the best on a white car. nothing special.

The OE stone gaurds yellow and cloud up over the years. I replaced mine due to scratches that they took instead of the paint underneath.

As others have said, just a different stone guard. Not wanting to risk lifting the clear coat to remove my yellowed clear ones, I installed carbon fiber vinyl ones over the clear ones to go with the rest of the CF theme of my car.
