Roll over hoops - down please

We just got out first 997.2 Cab after many years of early 911's. It's a copart crunch car and this will be my first post on this forum.. I've searched around and found nothing on getting the hoops down other than, open the top as far as you can then the owners manual will tell you how from there. We don't have one. I heard, there's a pin you push and then push the hoops half way down, release the pin and push the rest of the way. No pins that I see so maybe that was for a 996. There is a allen wrench in between the two hoops so it must have something to do with resetting them? Anyone know how to do this?

The hoops are for rollover protection in an accident. They're a Pyro device, like the airbags and seat belt pretensioners, and I would guess need to be replaced after an accident (or once deployed) and are not just resettable. I don't know this for a fact though as I don't have a cab.

Rollover Protection System
Function of the Rollover Protection
System
The Rollover Protection System on the Cabriolet
consists of two supplemental safety bars that
together with the front windshield frame help to
create occupant survival space in case of rollover.
Because of the extreme and unpredictable forces
which can be encountered in a rollover, it is not
possible to guarantee that occupants will be
protected from all contact with exterior objects
or the ground. However, the Rollover Protection
System is designed to maintain the occupant
survival space.
The protective devices are located behind each
rear seat and rapidly deploy within a fraction
of a second. The Rollover Protection System is
activated automatically in the event of an accident
or extreme driving situation. If necessary, the
seat-belt tensioners will be activated.
Please observe the chapter ”BELT TENSIONER”
on page 48.
They can deploy under:
– Extreme tilting of the vehicle.
– Loss of ground contact (e.g. Going over the
crest of a hill at high speed).
Danger!
Risk of death or serious injury.
Do not block area of supplemental safety bars
with objects. In the event of a deployment
event, such objects could potentially prevent
such deployment from occuring, or such
objects could impact the car occupants at high
speed.
Do not tamper with or work on wiring and or
components of Rollover Protection System.
All work regarding this system must be carried
out by your authorized Porsche dealer.
Check functions and periodic service intervals
according to maintenance schedule (see your
authorized Porsche dealer).
Danger!
To avoid damage to the convertible top:
If the supplemental safety bars are extended
for any reason, do not open or close convertible
top.
Warning light
Faults in the Rollover Protection System are indicated
by the airbag warning light in the instrument
panel. Extension of the supplemental safety bars is
no longer ensured.
See your authorized Porsche dealer immediately
and have the fault remedied.
Lowering the supplemental safety bars
after deployment
Have this work performed by an authorized
Porsche dealer.

Seems the owners manual doesn't say anything about a charge, just to bring it to the dealer. It probably says, if the tires are low, bring it to the dealer to add air.
I also received some input from another site about possible spring loaded system and cranking them back down. I'll try some more ideas today, with my added knowledge.

I got it!!! From the combined suggestions, I tried one and there're down now. The little bar in the center, can be pushed to the right and then push down hard on the hoop till it's about 2/3 all the way down. Then you can release the bar and a final push to lock it on the bottom. For two people, it would be very easy. I did it by myself and held the little bar with one hand and push down with the other. Hopefully, this will help people in the future since there's so little on it.

I’d be interested to know how they are engaged, is it an airbag like deployment that needs a part replaced or is it a spring loaded mechanical system?

They are spring loaded and the silver bumpy thing is like a cam that stops them from going back in. Once you get them past that point, you can release the black lever and push the rest of the way till that snap into place.
