Alignment

Just brought my 997 in for service and it needs an alignment.

Dealer says they balance the vehicle, but dont take into consideration my weight (being in the drivers seat).

Any opinions on this? Seems that for a "perfect" balance this should be considered -- as the majority of my driving is done with only me in the car.

unless you drive w/ precision of a robot or weight 300lbs, it's not going to make a difference.

If you go to 20's would that alter the factory spec's?Or because the rolling circumference is the same do the specs not change?

As we all can appreciate you being a perfectionist here with the balancing on your 997, I don't really think you have anything to worry about unless you are + 300 lbs. on one side.

If you're that worried about it, throw a few weight disks on the driver's side floor when you drop the car off representing your body weight.

First of all I can't help but wonder if this is your first service why the car requires an alignment? Secondly are you sure they are actually corner balancing the car? I don't hear dealers doing this very often. Most of them do a straight forward alignment adjusting camber and caster. Although I can appreciate people paying such close attention in how their 997 is dialed in, I wouln't worry too much about it unless you are trying to shave fractions of seconds off your lap times. Remember the weight on the car is constantly changing especially with an empty or full tank of gas.
