I just bought this gray/black 4S Targa recently and put so on 20" Forgiato wheels I had previously. I am debating the 19 or 20 wheel
route in my head but if I keep these 20's I am considering Eibach springs with .8" drop. I understand the ride will be fairly harsh but am looking for thoughts on adding springs for aesthetics.
Right now, the fender circle around the wheel is pretty uniform and looks good - at. Least as good as 20" wheels look on a 997. Lowering the car will change that and then the wheels will look even larger for the car. If you want to lower the car to change the stance, I'd go back to the proper 19" wheel size, which will also ride and perform better (lighter wheel / tire combined weight at each corner). I have a set of forged 19" Champions for sale if you decide to do that.
I've got the 20's as well but noticed they are rubbing on spring supports up front. Probably may change to 19's unless spacers are a safe option. These 20 inch wheels were apparently from the 991 version. Installed prior to my purchase.

do you have the 991 tire size on your car? If so the tire size is significantly taller than OEM 997 size...
Truly beautiful, I have an 03 996 Targa Aero, which I still drive, love it, best of both worlds, I also have 20: HRE on my 997S with GT3 Body Kit, ride is firm, but that bad.
I prefer 19's over 20's for look balance. As far as eibach go, I have a set for my Targa which will be installed before spring. Reason why I chose Eibachs, is that they apparently have a better or equal ride to the stock suspension. Won't know for another few months, but that is what I expect.
I have 2 years on my Eibach's, and I feel that the ride is much smoother than stock and handles better. Not harsh in the slightest. My opinion. FYI with the drop you will need spacers (I did 7&15mm) or it will look funny. Also my opinion.
To answer you- The front tire size is 235 35 20 on the 20 inch wheel. Rears are 295 30 20 on 20 inch wheel.
Hi there! Indeed, you’re running incorrect tyre sizes. The correct tyre aspect ratio for running 20” on a 997 should be 30 for the front and 25 for the rear.
I‘d be interested to know what the wheel offsets are.
All the best, Adrian.

Well I gave up on my 20s. and put the stock 19s back on. The ride was just too rough even with the stock springs. Once I put the 19's on I put Eibach springs on and it rides much smoother than the 20s with stock springs.
