997.1 Tail light update

Hi guys, I’ve lurked this site for a long time and have been directed here on numerous “Google searches”, so I signed up tonight to share a little easy update for the rear end of the Porsche 997. It was very simple, I had the upper part of the lens “wrapped” yesterday to match the car, and I installed some vintage RSR IROC decals to complete the project. There is no “Bleed through” when the brakes or running lights are activated. Hope this inspires some of you to perform an easy DIY rather than spending big bucks on LED upgrades. Let me know what you think, TomB

So you don't have any reverse lights and less visible brake lights?

Hi Petza914, I’m not sure how the bulbs are configured on your Turbo, but I have full brake lights, and more than adequate reversing lights,
I wouldn’t have done it if there was any compromise on safety.

Gotcha. Brake lights looks fine, but seems like the reverse lights are completely blocked as they're in the upper clear part that you covered with film. My wife loves the color though - looks like Tiffany Blue. She was torn whether to go with the pink pearl or tiffany when we repainted hers. We went with the pink. Hers has the Depo LEDs, a TT decklid with spoiler, and Vorsteiner bumpers.

Petza914, your wife’s car looks great, and she’s correct, Tiffany Blue like their jewellery boxes. When I wrapped the lens, I left one row of the clear showing. The majority of the big clear lens is covered, thank goodness, as it was one of the things I disliked about the stock tail lights. I just joined the site, but I will populate the garage section with some of the cars I have, This is a site we set up for Porsche Fun Runs, we get together and have socially distant drives in the nearby twisty roads. Some nice cars in the members section. http://sites.google.com/view/porschefunruns/home
