Front hood release lever no longer works.

I can pop the trunk hood with my wireless key, but the lever near the floor on the left now doesn't work. The lever for the engine compartment works fine. The front bumper cover was just replaced by the body shop. Could they have interrupted the electrical connection? I'll take it back if there isn't an easy fix.

Could be or the sill switch has gone bad. Since the bumper was just off, I'd guess they messed something up.

Not to be a dick, but the original poster is in CA, I'm in SC, but you decided to promote your business in the MD, DC, & VA area in his thread even though it will be no use to him, which I think may also be a forum violation unless you're a paid sponsor. I certainly hope you're not planning to reply with this information into a bunch of threads here an on the the IB forums, as I'd bet that's a sure way to get banned before you even reach 5 posts.

Hi jtn6ln

As the hood opens by the wireless key it means that the wiring is fine. (btw there is no hood wiring in the bumper)
I had the same problem and it was a broken sill switch.

Repair is easy

loosen hex bolt a few turns and lift sill upwards

regards
Hans

I have different hood problem. My release lever works but once I open the hood to unload whatever I have bought it often won't stay up and comes crashing down on my head. Survivable and some pain but mostly annoying. I've looked to see if there's some kind of adjustment that can be made to hold the hood in place once opened but haven't found anything yet.

Hi Hans,

Many thanks for the attachment. I have to look at it closer to see if this is something I want to tackle on my own. At first glance it looks somewhat involved and also a two man job if I read it right. Btw.....my second name is Hans

The second man can be a broomstick to keep the hood open

Do not pull the switch up, instead pull straight back toward the rear with slight upward pressure.

I can confirm this work-around works for me too.
